Doha was really a pleasant surprise with all its planned development and infrastructure that seemed to be done in a way that will benefit the quality of life for its residents. It is one of the best places to visit in the Gulf region. There are plenty of touristic places mushrooming to showcase its culture as well as natural beauty with world class amenities. However, I would like to highlight one totally non-touristic place that caught my attention, away from the normal touristy attractions.
The Qatar National Library at the Education City houses the National library, Public library and University library. It is truly a state of art mecca for an academician. If given a chance, I think I can spend days here and not be bored one bit. The massive space, massive collection of books, underground exhibition hall, auditorium, cafeteria and facilities is probably one of the best in the world. This is one spot not to be missed if visiting Doha, even for non-academicians who may fall in love with the space. I think bookworms will be born here.
